The next generation cruiser project, the Chrysalis, and the Future Large Unmanned Space Vehicle (FLUSV) project which will be both a stand-alone superluminal UCV and a component part of Chrysalis have both been given their official starts with initial design funding of 170 million zarks allocated.
FLUSV has a provisional entry-into-service date of 2117 and Chrysalis 2119. Some commentators are wondering if it is worth delaying Chrysalis until the early 2120s so it can use worm-drive from the off. However the DDS say it will be designed for w-drive and it can be a future upgrade. Both projects will be huge and complicated affairs, The Orchid said that the road will be a long one but Chrysalis, FLUSV and the previously announced Corkscrew frigate projects would be the backbone of the DDS until the mid-part of this century.
