UV1 to 200 : Two centuries of destruction!

Way back in October 2001 the way stories from the DDS Comic Universe were presented in was changed.

The new Ultra Violence or UV series would see the higher quality stories introduced by the previous series set in "real-time" with each book recounting the events in the DDS Comic Universe of 100 years hence. Thus UV #1 dealt with events from October 8 to 22 2101!

The first 80 odd books kept this fortnightly schedule until the change to the monthly schedule which the UV series continues with today. UV #200 is now in production and as before the book deals with events which take place in real-time from mid-February to March 2114...

To celebrate the 200th UV book the very first story from UV #1 has been especially digitised and  presented below. When the story was originally published this website did not even exist and digitising of stories is a fairly recent innovation. Thus for the first time the story is presented in this format.

Look for more stories from the 200th book of course over the coming weeks.

Character Database reaches 400

It was a co-incidence but the same day the Official DDS Website reached 4000 posts the Official DDS Character Database has reached 400. This is an increasingly vital part of the DDS Universe and has already helped tighten things up character and story wise. There are still a lot of profiles let to go so here is to the next 100...

This is the 4000th post to the Official DDS Website which since 2005 has been the ultimate resource for DDS news and information. We began the site back in 2005 to supplement the comic series but over time the site itself has become a vital part of the canon.

Recently we have expanded the web presence including the Character Database and Timeline to make this your one-stop-shop for DDS news and info. Here is to the next 4000 posts! Thanks to all our loyal fans!

DDS History & Timeline Project

We are proud to announce the latest site in the DDS network, the DDS History & Timeline Project. This replaces the old published timeline and will be a website dedicated to the DDS' rich history and heritage. You can see a timeline of events in the DDS Universe from the earliest mists of time to the latest happenings in 2112 as well as various lists and appendices.

More information will be added over the following months so keep tuned!

Launching the New DDS Project Character Database!

If you are a bit confused about who X is, why Y was and who Z is banging then fear not... the New DDS Project Character Database has been launched which will grow to becoming the definitive guide to who is who in the DDS Universe.

The database currently has 49 entries but this will grow and existing entries will continue to be improved. The database is intended as the centre of a growing DDS online portal including this site as well of course.

From UV165 there will be a number of changes to the format.  Instead of the old 5x8 page stories plus a 4 page mini-story format the books are changing to 7x6 page stories.

About the DDS Universe

This is probably the best place to start, what is the DDS?

Seeing Star Wars for the first time in the late 1970s inspired me to draw comics, from those primitive beginnings i have gradually developed a complicated and rich comic universe and in recent years have tried to tidy up continuity with the help of this website and the other satellite sites such as the timeline and character database.

The DDS Comic Universe is set 100 years in the future and runs roughly in real time, so a story written now in November 2012 roughly takes place in November 2112. Humankind spread out into the stars during the 21st century and formed a number of colonies which later became independent worlds linked with Earth under the United Nations of Planets (UNP) banner.

However it is a dangerous universe out there with many other competing powers and factions. Some are fairly friendly like the Dinos but others are dangerous like the Clones and Tarbotians and these powers have sought to conquer the UNP. To protect the UNP from conquest the DDS is employed.

The DDS (which stands for Dino Death Squad though this full term is seldom used nowadays) was originally set up by the Emperor of the Dinos Ronald while he was on a sabbatical to protect his interests but has since grown into a huge multi-spectral paramilitary organisation that now forms the core of UNP defence (the UNP's own militaries tend to be only civilian defence units now).

Led by Windscorpion, perhaps the greatest hero in human history, the DDS has held firm against attacks by the Clones, Utrek, Tarbotians, ABBOs and others. Windy has taken a bit more of a back seat now but is still there to help out when the DDS is in need.

The major strand of the comic universe is the Dinos, reptilians who evolved on Sirius. They have been led by Ronald, a peerless warrior but he has also decided to step back a bit. However the safety of the galaxy from evil is still firmly in the hands of Ronald and Windscorpion...
