Dinos explore holographic ship interiors

The Dinos have begun a project to explore the viability of generating a spaceship's interior using hard-light holography. With this the interior layout and fittings are generated on a needs basis depending on the ship's mission. For example a ship on a general duties mission may have itself set up for a normal crew complement while later on if could be set for a transport mission and reconfigure the interior to be largely empty.

The ship's interior would be a virtual representation though as it was "solid" (consisting of re-sequenced molecules) there would not be any need for VR equipment. The Dinos are to fit a holography lab into an old Dinomark XT next year for experiments into viability and survivability. Such a technology is being considered for the next generation of Dinomarks to follow on from the PT in the 2120s.

The advantages of such an approach are numerous, it would be much faster to reconfigure the interior of a ship (taking seconds rather than weeks), the interior could be "reality augmented" to assist crews and virtual crewing working alongside "real" crews would be possible.
