ISSF has formed a new unit called Space Operations Force or SOF. This is the long awaited "space marines" force which the DDS want for onboard ship fighting and extra-vehicular space missions. SOF consists of 3 Prowler units all highly trained in on ship combat as well as extended use of space suits.
All soldiers in SOF are equipped with the DDS' new standard energy rifle, the DAR-L1 (popularly known as the "Darli"). This is the first mass deployed energy rifle to be deployed by the DDS and will replace all kinetic energy weapons by 2118.
