DDS to rotate Starsystem

The DDS are to withdraw one of the 7 Starsystem 91B Medium Combat Ship (Training) and put into storage, replacing it with M197T Mira which is currently in that state. This will be done and will likely continue to be done every 12-18 months in order to reduce wear and tear on the fleet which is still due to remain in service for around 16 years.

M196T Richard Nixon is the ship to be withdrawn as it suffered damage at Solaris dock a few months ago after an accident and has been unable to perform any superluminal trips since (though it has continued to perform training missions in the Solaris system). Mira will be ready to return to service in a couple of months, among the jobs that need to be done is a full check of all systems before the reactor core is refuelled and restarted. Then some updates will be carried out to bring the ship up to standard.

In related news the 2 ex-Bolitic Helwin combat training ships (Alpha Centauri class) have been  reclassified as Medium Combat Ship (Training). They have been renumbered to suit their new classification. It is only thought they will carry out normal patrol duties in the event of ship shortages unlike the Starsystems which perform nearly half their missions in the patrol role.
