The DDS is to open a new cyberwarfare centre on Terra, probably at its now vacant base premises in Lisbon, Portugal. The new centre will be the hub of DDS efforts in cyber warfare both offensively and defensively bringing together disparate teams at DDS Communications, DDS Research and DDS Engineering.
Director of Technology Sea Urchin said the new centre would bring together all of the DDS' expertise and allow for the development of new techniques and technology. It is known that the DDS are keen to make infoweapons a key component of their offensive portfolio. Many DDS warships now have an Info-Warfare Centre (IWC) though until now the focus has been on defence from attacks by the likes of the Bolitic and Tarbotians. Sea Urchin said that by 2120 it is hoped the DDS will have developed and be ready to deploy the cyber equivalent of the TPM.
The new centre will open in early 2115 with all staff transferred by the beginning of 2116.
