2 DDS crewmen killed in training accident

Two DDS crewmen of the oiler A147 Trident have been killed in a training accident. The ship, part of the Early Warning deployment, was acting as an "enemy" ship in a mock combat with the destroyer D164 Polaris II. However the Solaris' lasers had not been set to "training" mode (which means just light and no destructive energy) so when Trident was hit by the laser beam it caused real damage.

Trident lost main power and 2 crewmen were killed when a power junction they were near exploded. Repairs to Trident are now being carried out, the damage is said to be "moderate". The weapons officer of the Solaris has been relieved of command and will be picked up by SS Stoke City for taking back to GHQ for analysis of his actions.

Director of Operations Action Painting has said that training procedures will be looked at to prevent such a mistake happening again.
