Doombringer resigns over HCS fleet problems

Hours after HCS Inspectorate's General White said the HCS was gripped by paralysis one of the longest serving HCS commanders has taken the unprecedented step in resigning! Doombringer, the commander of the HCS Space Navy and one of the figures from the early days of the HCS, said he was tired of politics and delay and wished to find new challenges.

Chief delay of course being the HCS OPV 08 which is now so delayed some wags have suggested it be renamed OPV 09 or 10. The patrol boat is one of the most important projects in HCS history, it is eventually intended to form a fleet of 100 ships to replace the Kalahati Tuul family in the HCS. Unfortunately delays mean that the first ships won't arrive in time to replace the oldest Kalahati Tuuls, some sources report that as many as 3 KTs are unusable and by this time next year the number could be in double figures. One ship is said to be so unsafe even turning on it's reactor core is considered too dangerous.

If that's not enough then the Kalahati Tuul 2 class is due to start reaching the end of it's life by 2108. A programme to upgrade and refurbish these ships (the Kalahati Tuul 2N) has stopped after just 4 examples. Thus the HCS needs to be building the OPV now but because of inter-faction disagreement even the specification has not yet been agreed.

Doombringer said it wasn't just because of this he decided to end his time with the HCS, he said he wished to see more of the galaxy. He said he had been in this sector for decades and wanted to see more. The HCS said Doombringer would leave his post by the end of the month.
