NS strained by holding two exercises at once
Over the last week NS has held two exercises at the same time, Ground Shock 2020 and Extra 2020-A. President Windscorpion's idea behind this being to see how NS copes with being put under strain and responding to different threats at the same time.
Although the fleet's resources were stretched by the two exercises and normal operations all missions were accomplished though one ship is reported to have had to delay entering maintenance for a week to cover a patrol circuit. The President is said to be pleased by how NS performed.

Rahmanesh 7 joins New Utrek Federation
The battered Rahmanesh 7 has officially joined the New Utrek Federation, the successor state to the Urik Utrek Federation which collapsed following the Mantae war. The new federation now comprises some 57% of the old one, though most of the missing territory has been either annexed by the Mantae or wiped out during the war.
The New Utrek Federation are slowly rebuilding their military power, twenty Molentic Tuuls are said to be in advanced state of construction along with a dozen or so Reptoli Tuuls. A new mid-size ship to replace the many lost Kalahati Tuuls on secondary duties is said to be in development. Possibly this ship will be called the Rahmanesh Tuul (the Utrek name their ship classes after planets in the federation).

Oojok begins road to succession
Although he does not plan to step down any time soon (and he has stressed this very strongly) Oojok has begun the long road to succession for his son Terin to take over... one day. Terin already leads the Clone Star Empire's Eastern part however to rule the entire empire he will need spiritual support.
Oojok is a living god and central to the official Clone religion (of which 47% of the population are considered devout, and 78% believers). Terin is considered a demi-god due to his father but the spiritual leader Ayatollah Clone XE has begun to strengthen Terin's position in the church. Terin has begun training in the priesthood so he can have a greater understanding of the creed. Terin will also receive more emphasis in religion edicts and sermons.
This will be a long process. Only 12% of believers consider Terin worthy of worship however XE thinks this will be greatly increased over time.

Dinos to increase size of army
Censor Ronald has announced to the Senate plans to increase the size of the Dino Army from it's current strength of 17 legions to 19. The SS will also gain a third legion. These three extra legions will all be the standard strength consisting of two armoured brigades, three or four infantry brigades, an artillery brigade and a squadron of at least 20 Dinomarks.
The new Dino Army legions will be based on Pulsin and Xi, helping strengthen the two most strategic positions of the Dino Republic. The SS 3rd Legion will be based on Jeloka. It is hoped all three new legions will be operational by 2123.

Operation Extra 2120A
When the new exercise schedule was agreed there was always the chance that the randomly chosen smaller exercises might be run at the same time as one of the "big 4" and this is the case with the first of these: Operation Extra 2120A, President Windscorpion ordered it to start the very day Ground Shock 2120 began!

Operation Ground Shock 2120
The first of the "big 4" exercises of the year, the ground attack focused Ground Shock has begun. The week long exercise will include space-ground attack, special forces deployment and an amphibious landing. Solaris will be the system used for the exercise.

Bolitic withdraw entirely from Utrek space
The Bolitic Confederacy has completed it's withdrawal of forces from Rahmenesh 7 and Utrek space. However they managed to look the treasury of Rahmenesh before they went and took an estimated six billion zarks worth of gold!
It is now likely that Rahmenesh 7 will join the fledgling New Utrek Federation. They had been one of the minor Utrek powers to have held out but the wrecked state of their armed forces and finances after the Bolitic attack may now force them to join.

NS Ship Building Plan 2120/2121
NS has finally published it's next Ship Building Plan which begins next month. As with the last plan it is dominated by Protector 57As though will also include the first Lavender 105A unmanned combat ship and the first Acadia 165A Remote Support Tender. The number of the ships in the plan is noticably less than previous years (just 18 ships compared to 22 the year before) though this is due to the large Panther ILU program beginning.

Costs of DNA screening may affect weapon procurement
VP (Ops) Torus has spun off the DNA Screening Agency off NSIS as a separate department of New Sparta. This is due to the sheer size of the DSA which now has a thousand staff and six offices across the UNP. Indeed the size of the DSA means it is expected to cost nearly one hundred million zarks a year which is the price of a couple of Protector patrol ships! The cost is likely to mean weapon procurement may be affected.

NS fear that the Mutre Bee may improve his cloning technology and thus defeat existing DSA scanning technology, however an improved scanner is already in development.
Scanning all NS personnel is a huge process requiring a complicated bureaucracy. Torus said that the scanning of key UNP personnel also needs to be added to the DSA remit (at the moment only UNP parliament members are scanned monthly).

Panther ILU to become Type 35 unification
NS were originally supposed to begin the Panther ILU in 2118 but delayed it due to the decision to unify the three variants of the Type 35. The Panthers will be upgraded starting this year as Phase 1 of the program. The Panthers will be rebuilt to a similar specification of the Kinetic 35C. The engines however will be new and use e-Core technology. However delays in developing these engines means the first few upgrades will keep the same Gluon engines for now.
The Panthers will become the Panther 35M and will have an increased missile load (up to 148). They will also have improved multi-role capabilities thanks to a larger fuselage and docking bay. The first upgrades will begin this Summer.
