Although over eighty are on order, the Clone Air Force have revealed plans to phase the four engined K44 Cargoking transport out of production by 2125. Future production will instead switch to the two engined K60 Executive. This is a two engined version of the K44 but up until now has been unable to match the performance of the four engined transport.
A new version of the K60, the K60EP (based on the 460-6 airliner) with new engines can match the K44 short field performance and cargo carrying ability plus is cheaper to build and run. Although the K44 will cease production there are over 360 in service and it is expected to remain in service until around 2150.
