SROPS upgrade announced

The DDS' fleet of Heron 76B SROPS (Short Range Operations Patrol Ships) has proven a highly valuable addition to the DDS portfolio in recent years and most DDS warships now carry one. The DDS have announced an upgrade to the fleet of 68 SROPS plus a follow-on order for 12 more of the type.

SROPS Revision C (likely to be called the Heron 76C) has improvements to the self-defence systems, improved computers, enhanced datalinking to the mothership and enhancements to the docking system. It will also have pylons for 2 TPM-2s with software support for firing the missile (currently SROPS can carry a Canister TPM). Upgrades will begin in the next few weeks.
