Clone ship skirmishes with Mutre Bee warship

The Clone Defence Forces are reporting that a Molentic Tuul of the Clone Space Navy has skirmished with a Mutre Bee warship which was detected in orbit over Taragargi. Fire was exchanged between the two ships, the Mutre Bee ship retreating and leaving the system. Only minor injuries were reported on the Moilentic Tuul.

This is the first time a Mutre Bee ship has been seen in local space for ages. A couple of years ago a combined NS-Dino fleet traveled to Mutre Bee space and defeated a large Mutre Bee fleet, however the threat was not considered over, merely delayed for now.

Oojok to grant more autonomy to CSE-E

The Eastern branch of the Clone Star Empire has for a long time been a bit of a headache to the CSE leadership, especially when it was the private fiefdom of Benito Clone. Oojok has said he will grant more autonomy to Marcus, the governor of CSE-E. The aim will be for the CSE-E to become self sufficient. This will be difficult as apart from Austini 55 and Woloron 12 the planets of CSE-E are all net drains on the empire's economy.

Some observers are wondering if Oojok's long term plan is for the CSE-E to become independent. It is well known that some senior figures in the empire would like to "streamline" the empire and remove planets which do not add much to the empire in terms of resources and strategic location.

Windscorpion makes final address to NS as President

President Windscorpion has given, what has been billed, as his final speech as NS President on a visit to Liberation. The address was broadcast live on NS News. Windy said he would remain at the centre of NS in his new role as Protector. He called on NS to rally around and support Torus who was going to replace him as President at the start of 2122.

Windy said NS needed to maintain it's edge, he has been recorded as being worried about NS losing it's battle hardness due to the quiet period recently. He said there would be challenging times ahead and that NS needed to be ready.

Opposition faction elect The Shiner as their leader

The "opposition" in New Sparta (though they have no official name or formal grouping) led by Knobhead and Zeppelin have elected The Shiner as their spokesman (and defacto leader). The Shiner is thus likely to be a candidate in the next NS Presidential election in two years.

Knobhead said the former DDS Commander was a perfect candidate to take NS forward with his years of experience. Truman, who has an informal role as spokesman for Windy's & Torus' faction, said The Shiner was "yesterday's man for yesterday's problems, Torus was the only one for today and tomorrow".
