The President's Christmas address

Earlier today President Sea Urchin sent the traditional Christmas message to New Sparta and Epiphany:

"Colleagues, 2118 has been a momentous year for New Sparta. We have joined UNP and now have a more assured and stable future. New Sparta has continued to develop it's space and terrestrial forces. Our space forces are second to none and in 2119 we will continue to improve our fleet and also our terrestrial forces which are now a vital component of the New Spartan military power. We have also welcomed Starbot back into our family.

I know there are challenges. The Epiphany project is not without it's difficulties but I am sure that we will fully integrate with UNP by the end of next year. Next year will also have the second NS Presidential election. I will not stand again but I am sure that whomever does became the next NS President will continue our path to stability and potential.

Clone economy downturns again

The Clone economy has entered recession again after several years of steady but unspectacular growth. Although the recession is at the moment fairly technical there are signs there could be another lengthy downturn. This will impact on money available for the Clone Defence Forces.

Deputy-Emperor Sleeze has said that spending on defence will remain unchanged for the next year, however that will mean a real terms reduction due to inflation of course. The Clone Space Navy has been desperate to restart mass ship production though that may be delayed yet again.

Operation Winter Mists 2118

The final exercise of the year is a full-spectrum mock-combat exercise, this year held on Starbot as previously announced. The exercise will includes space combat, a small amphibious landing and special forces exercises. The ships involved are:

Two of the ships are part of the Starbotian flotilla, this is the first time they have taken part in joint-ops with NS forces since reunification.
