Windy gives Christmas message to New Sparta
President Windscorpion has given the following Christmas message to New Sparta:
"New Spartans, we come to the end of the first full year of my term as President of New Sparta. It has been a year when a new type of warfare has come to the fore. Bio-warfare, in the form of cloning and body augmentation, has become a dire threat to NS and the UNP. It is a threat that requires new countermeasures and techniques.
We have made a big step forward on this with the DNA Scanning Agency but this is only the start of our fight back. We will be improving the capabilities of the DSA and will be implementing a greater level of cover. We are also exploring offensive bio-warfare measures. New Sparta, and the DDS before it, has always been ahead on the curve on the development of warfare.
New Sparta is on the forefront in all areas of warfare. A stronger space fleet, a larger army and air force. Improved weapon systems. New Sparta gets stronger every day and this will continue. The future is bright, the future is New Sparta."

NS Terrestrial Force performs minor reorganisation
NS Terrestrial Force which includes all NS combat personnel expect for space warfare (Space Fleet) and special forces (NSIS) has performed a minor reorganisation. Most of the changes are naming and terminology although there have been some changes in structure. NSTF aviation component is now to be known as New Sparta Air Division (NSAD). It's naval support command has also been renamed Maritime Air Support Command.
The Land Corps has been renamed New Sparta Land Division (NSLD) and there have been some tweaks to the force structure and naming. The reserve force has been split into two "West" and "East" components.

NS Advanced Close Support Aircraft (ACSA)
NS Terrestrial Forces has announced the Advanced Close Support Aircraft (ACSA) which will replace the A-85 and K-18D COIN and close support aircraft fleets. The ACSA, which will probably be given the designation OA-25, is expected to enter service by 2125.
The ACSA will be hybrid duct fan powered, similar to the Clone K58. It is thought NS did consider approaching the Clones to buy the K58 but in the end decided to go ahead with their own type. The ACSA will work in conjunction with the A-12 NDAA and MQ-14 LLAD drone.

F-10S Shark begins final withdrawal
The remaining F-10ASE Shark interceptors have now begun withdrawal from service following a long career which dated back to the Clone Wars. NS Terrestrial Forces are now taking delivery of F-10SNG Shark 2100s which cover all duties including TPM-A armed LEO defence patrols over key NS facilities.
It is thought the remaining F-10ASEs will remain in service until the end of 2121 though will increasingly be used in a reserve role.
The new F-12 Hammerhead is expected to take over LEO defence duties from the Shark 2100 by 2123.

Trojan Warlord is a spy, new clone threat
Trojan Warlord, often thought to be one of NS' biggest running jokes, has been uncovered as an agent of a foreign power (NS have not said which one)! If that wasn't strange enough Trojan Warlord was also behind the Ophir attacks which have killed over a dozen NS personnel. Trojan Warlord / Ophir fled using advanced alien teleport technology. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
NS say that Trojan Warlord has also led them to a new cloning threat. Trojan Warlord received cognitive upgrades from a Dino SS doctor on Dino-Land. NSIS have discovered that this doctor was a clone, however not a Mutre Bee Organisation one. DSA and the Dino SS have both updated their DNA screening systems to detect this new clone type.

Nuclear Forces Protection Regiment declared operational
The latest unit in the NS Territorial Forces, the N01 Nuclear Forces Protection Regiment (NS-NFP), has been declared operational. The regiment will be dedicated to guarding NS' nuclear assets including the warhead manufacturing facility on Solaris and the secret warhead storage facility in the Proxima Centauri system.
NS-NFP will take part in protecting deployed LRM batteries, though in conjunction with other NS troops. The regiment will be part of the NS Territorial Forces' Headquarters Defence Brigade and not NSIS as originally planned.

Terrasaur ship spotted near Apassara
A Terrasaur ship has been detected near to Apassara, an outlying planet in the DTA and part of the Voth territory. A Voth Kalahati Tuul attempted to engage with the Terrasaur ship but was knocked out of action in a short battle. There were a number of reported injuries on the Voth ship though none serious. The Kalahati Tuul was able to restore power and returned to Apassara.
The Terrasaur ship is thought to have now left DTA space. This is the first Terrasaur ship to be detected for a number of months.

Dinos to form roving battle fleet
The Dinos are to form a roving battle fleet which continuously patrols the Dino Republic and Dino Trade Association (DTA) space. The fleet will consist of one of the Dinomark RS heavy cruisers and at least twenty other warships (some from other DTA members) including a brigade of SS.
Emperor MBH said the fleet will visit all planets in the DTA and be a visible and reassuring show of strength. The fleet will begin it's patrols before the end of trhe year.

Identity of the Ophir is revealed
For months now a bizarre creature known as the Ophir has been terrorising the corridors of NS GHQ. Said to a mysterious figure in dark robes, the Ophir has been murdering young men and broadcasting footage of it's crimes. At least nine attacks have been recorded and sixteen NS staff killed.
Following an investigation by first Boxman (who narrowly avoided becoming one of the Ophir's victims) and now Interrogator Ramp the identity of the Ophir has been discovered. NS are not giving any details yet but it is said to be a very well-known and long serving member of the DDS/NS! Reports say the Ophir avoided capture and may be an agent of a foreign power.

Clones unveil Future Universal Helicopter programme
The Clone Air Force has announced the Future Universal Helicopter (FUHX) programme which will replace the iconic Z26 Halogen in CAF service by 2140. That is quite an ask as there over 8,000 Z26s in service! Many though are ageing types, some veterans from the Clone Wars and part of the FUHX programme will be to reorganise the CAF's helicopter force. It is expected scores of regiments will be disbanded and maybe half of the Z26s in service withdrawn without replacement. The current order for new build Z26WNG has been reduced and production will probably end in 2122.
FUHX will design and develop a replacement for the Z26 in the light attack, reconnaissance, liaison, transport and utility roles. The anti-tank and heavy attack roles are to be handed over to the Z50NG Advanced Dragonfly, an updated re-engineered version of the Z50. The CAF expected to built 400 Z50NGs and over 2,000 FUHX with deliveries of the latter by 2125. FUHX is the largest programme in the CAF since the K45C. It is not known if the Clone Naval Air Service will also replace it's Z26s with a navalised version of FUHX.
The Z50NG is expected to enter service in 2123 with flight testing of the prototype next year. Compared to the in-service Dragonfly the new version has a new tactical suite, new engines and improved armour and stealth.

K75 Student to be retired early next year
One of the earliest aircraft designed by the Clones was the A-22/T-75 basic trainer which was one of the main types during the early Clone Wars. Although the A-22 was replaced by the A-85 (now K85) as the standard Clone COIN aircraft by the end of the Clone Wars the trainer version (K75 Student) remained the standard basic trainer of the air force, even though it had a number of flaws and was not that easy to fly!
Since 2111 the Clone Air Force has been building the replacement K76 Graduate which is a similar but clean sheet aircraft with a much more refined design. Now the once vast fleet of K75s has been reduced to just two regiments and these will convert to the K76 by the middle of 2121.
