At a speech to NSIS at NS GHQ VP (Ops) Torus has said the Mutre Bee was now the number one threat to the UNP. Although Tarbot was more powerful it is considered there is little Tarbotian interest in the UNP at the moment. Mutre Bee has launched a number of attacks on NS and the Dinos over the last few months.
Although NS (with the Dinos) destroyed a Mutre Bee base in the Rim Worlds and a joint team also hit Mutre Bee facilities in deep space it is thought Mutre Bee agents and forces are still operating in local space.
NSIS would be receiving extra funding from next year Torus said to help counter the Mutre Bee threat which is of a more asymmetric type than other rival powers.

Windy was injured in operation against Mutre Bee
President-elect Windscorpion has addressed NS by video link as his ship approaches UNP space after his long range mission against the Mutre Bee. Windy said that the NS fleet (the Dino component has taken a different route back) will reach Starbot in early December and stay there for a short period before returning to Proxima Centauri in time for Christmas.
Windy said he had been injured in the battle against Mutre Bee forces including some broken bones but these were healing well. He said he would be fully fit to assume his duties at the start of 2120. Windy added that there would not be any dramatic changes to NS to start with under his administration though there would be an "evolution" to the kind of NS he thought was needed in the new decade.

Knobhead and Shiner will continue in their roles
VP (Technology) Knobhead and VP (Facilities) Shiner have agreed to stay on in their roles after Windscorpion officially takes over from Sea Urchin as President in a few weeks. In theory he has already though as he is not in UNP space yet he can't have various security codes transferred to him. Sea Urchin has thus continued as defacto President even though he has officially retired and left NS!

Dinos refuse to comment on bomb attacks on Pulsin
A spate of explosions has rocked Pulsin, the second planet in the Dino Republic. One explosion in the capital Pulsin City is said to have caused a number of fatalities including the cousin of a government minister. The Pulsin government have not commented on the explosions though one source is claiming it was caused by a "gas explosion".
However on Dino-Land campaigners have said a terrorist campaign is being waged by the indigenous Mosk people on Pulsin. They have called for dialogue with the Mosk and to incorporate them into the Pulsin state. Emperor MBH would not answer a question on this in his weekly media briefing. It is thought he has ordered SS reinforcements to the planet.

Clones looking to expand aviation exports
The Clone state aircraft company Clone Aircraft Corporation (CAC) has outlined plans to greatly expand it's exports of Clone built warplanes. CAC has had some success selling the likes the K85 and K44. Even New Sparta has been a regular customer.
CAC are looking into producing dedicated types for export. One type being mooted is an updated version of the F-43 light fighter which was developed during the Clone Wars. The F-43 was withdrawn due to the downsizing of the Clone armed forces after the end of the wars. An updated F-43 could be an attractive cheap fighter for smaller nations.

Windscorpion elected NS President!
Windscorpion has been elected NS President with 87% of the vote over Zeppelin who only scored 9%. His deputy Torus held a victory celebration at NS GHQ, Windy himself surprised the ecstatic crowd by addressing them via videolink, his ship now just in range for a hyperlaser transmission.
Windy said he would be back in NS space by early December and would take up his role by the end of the year. Torus will continue her role as VP (Operations) and take charge of NS from Sea Urchin until Windy is back.

Sea Urchin will take up UNP role
NS President Sea Urchin will stand down and retire from NS, after a long career going back to the Clone Wars, in a few days. Once the result of the Presidential election is announced in a few days he will then begin a brief hand-over with the new President and then retire.
However Sea Urchin will begin his new job with the UNP almost immediately. He will take up a position on the UNP Defence Committee. In the longer term Sea Urchin is expected to run for the UNP Parliament.

NS goes to the polls
New Sparta has begun voting in the NS Presidential election, the first held to replace the incumbent Sea Urchin who is retiring from NS. Windscorpion is the overwhelming favourite to be elected President. The other contender is Zeppelin.

Operation Material Asset 2119
Material Asset is the annual strategic lift exercise. NS will transport "urgent" items from Proxima 5 and take them to Starbot. Starbotian ships will try and hinder the operation.

NS plan to retrofit Friendship platform ships with e-Core engines
The latest Depender 161A combat support ship 161-106 Illicit has been fitted with a Proton RM-01C e-Core engine for trials ahead of retrofitting the NS fleet of Friendship platform ships with the more efficient engine.
As the Friendship was derived from a commercial transport there are dozens of similiar ships (built by Consolidated Spacecraft) in service across the UNP and beyond, NS is planning to offer an engine upgrade to these operators in the early 2120s.
Ahead of that NS plan to test the engine out with SS Illicit into 2120 and then could begin an upgrade programme next year.

The Dinos have revealed that Senator Krusty, along with a Dinomark AM, were lost during a joint operation with NS against the Mutre Bee. Censor Ronald addressed the Senate, which was also broadcast live to the DTA, where he paid tribute to Krusty and the lost AM crew.

New Sparta have announced that they have destroyed a Mutre Bee base which was detected in the Rim Worlds. The Mutre Bee is an old foe of the DDS/NS and recently has been active in the area according to unnamed sources.
The base, which was discovered with Dino help, was attacked by NS bombers armed with nuclear tipped MRMs. The base was utterly destroyed. It was on an unclaimed (and otherwise uninhabited) planet in the Rim Worlds though NS are declining to say exactly where it is.
