Ronald has ordered a shake-up of the SS and thinks Solax, who commanded the elite Black Dragon Martyrs Brigade, is the man to do it. In agreement with MBH (and hence able to pass in the Senate despite Liberal opposition) Ronald has sacked his son Stinkyson from the post of SS Commander in favour of Solax. Ronald wants a full reform and sharpening up of the Dino military in general and the SS in particular.
Stinkyson has been given Legate rank and will hold a ministry post though will no longer attend Senate. Analysts say the move is shrewd as Solax, although officially part of MBH's faction, is fanatical in his worship of Ronald (and is one of the leaders of the bizarre SS cult that reveres Ronald as a living god) so will likely serve both masters.

Dinos announce the death of Gibson
The Dinos have announced that former SS-Commander Gibson has died apparently saving Ronald's life! The former army officer, latterly disgraced as a Utrek agent (albeit unwillingly) and mass sexual criminal, was somehow involved in a secret mission in Bolitic space where he saved Ronald from being shot, taking the bullets himself.
The Dinos are not revealing any more details citing national security. Gibson will be given a funeral with military honours at the 6th Legion Memorial next week. This has raised some eyebrows (not that Dinos have any of course) and disagreements though Ronald has been insistent.

End of the line for the Kalahati Tuul 2
The Kalahati Tuul 2 was an unauthorised development of the Utrek Kalahati Tuul by the Clones and Remedians in the early 2090s and many were built for Remedian and HCS service. Only 3 now remain in Remedian service with the Remedian flotilla in the NS fleet as the Perimpaz 039A (2 others are kept in storage for spares).
With the Remedians now switching over to the Corkscrew 051A the remaining Perimpaz have been put in reserve and effectively out of use and indeed have not left port since January. Now the Remedians have said the ships will be withdrawn in June. Two Perimpaz will be preserved, one at the Remedian Military Museum and the other at the UNP Space Museum. The others will be disposed of, probably in weapons tests.
At one time Molab was considering buying all 5 extant Perimpaz and rebuilding/upgrading them but have now decided not to go ahead with the programme due to the uneconomic small fleet size. This therefore will finally bring an end to the Kalahati Tuul 2 story (which left Clone service some years ago already).

New Arit receives Provider MX
New Arit has received its 4th (and so far) final Provider MX tactical transport. It has joined the Is Lanki and will join the others in providing forward tactical support for New Arit Army and other DTA detachments.
New Arit has begun to look at the replacement for its fleet of 11 Kalahati Tuuls which are expected to reach the end of their lives in the mid-2120s. New Arit would like to replace them with the Dinomark AM though funds may not allow this, it is thought a major refurbishment and upgrade keeping the ships viable for another 10-15 years might be the affordable option.

Clones add 2 ships to fleet
Two ships have joined the fleet, these days a fairly rare event as funding for ship building continues to be squeezed. The ships are both Cosmos CG ground-attack cruisers. There is less good news elsewhere however, work on the next batch of Kelsan KS bombers has been delayed until next year.
The Soulaki upgrade is also now slated for 2117 which will make it two years late, though part of the delay is to integrate worm drives which may begin arriving later this year from the Dinos.

Dinos detail heavy freight fleet plans
The Dinos have completed their future fleet plans by outlining the future shape of the Heavy Support arm of the Dino Army fleet. This includes heavy amphibious warfare assets, strategic transports and oilers (training and research has also been added for administrative purposes). Currently they have 6 Provider SX landing ships, 8 Provider EDA transports and 3 Extender EDA oilers (plus the 19 Provider MX tactical transports which will be given to the Second Line army co-operation arm of the fleet).
By 2126 Heavy Support will have 12 Provider SX, 20 Provider EDA, 9 Extender EDAs and 25 of their own Provider MX (separate to the Second Line's 20). They also plan to have 5 support carriers (probably Olympus Mons based) and 6 amphibious assault ships like the NS/Clone Intruder - details of this ship are not yet known.

Dinos publish future fleet plans
The Dinos plan to increase the size of their fleet considerably over the next 10 years according to published fleet plans. The Dinos have also now officially split their fleet into 3: First Line, Second Line and Heavy Support.
The First Line are the primary warships of the Dino Army and spent most of their time in space dedicated to "astral defence" (as the Dinos call it). The First Line consists of the Dinomark RS, the new AM and the PT. Currently there are 73 ships in the First Line (3 RD, 2 AM and 68 PT). By 2126 the Dinos want this increased to 150. The number of RS and PT will remain unchanged (assuming no losses) so all of the increase will be with the impressive new Dinomark AM.
The Second Line comprises the bulk of the fleet and includes army co-operation, secondary space duties and support. The Dinos have included it's Dinomark XT fleet in this along with the forthcoming LM and the Provider MX tactical transport. Currently there are 172 ships in the Second Line (153 XT and 19 MX - there are also around 200 extra old XTs in the reserve though these are counted separately and many have rather dubious military potential in any event). By 2126 the Second Line will be increased to 250 (153 XTs, 77 LMs and 20 MX).
Finally Heavy Support will include large strategic transports, the Dinos have not published any figures for this part of their fleet yet.
Senator Zanus said that the Dino fleet in 2126 would be much larger, flexible and more advanced in order to match growing threats. He said that the dedicated warfighter version of the AM the AR was now cancelled as the AM had proven adequate for multi-role. No other Dinomark versions are on the horizon though an RS replacement may be needed by the 2130s should the Dinos decide to continue having a small number of battlecruisers.

NS admit to worm drive shortage
The NS has admitted that the latest Mulberry 36A has been delayed because of a lack of an available worm drive for it. The NS factory for Electron W1A worm drives currently builds 3-4 a month and all of these have been used up by new and upgraded ships in the fleet over the last year. This has resulted in the NS not being able to build up a strategic reserve of "spare" worm drives.
NS Commander Knobhead last month said the NS needed a reserve of at least 10 drives (the current number is 3 and this includes a test engine used in engineering simulations and training - though it probably could be used on a ship). Knobhead has given the NS Engineering until the Summer to build up a sufficient store, this means that new ships may be delayed pending available drives.
Dr Forbidden has been looking at the feasibility of increasing production but says that although a surge of 5 a month would be possible for a couple of months any long term increase in production would need a substantial investment in the factory or maybe a second line. Dr Forbidden said as the NS is currently at peace with no short or medium term threats on the horizon it is unlikely to happen for now.

Fleet News 04/04/16
The final ships from the 2115/6 ship building plan have joined the fleet except for the 4th planned Mulberry 036A which was delayed due to some production issues and will now be probably completed next month as part of 2116/7.
S128 Walrus is the latest Warrior 016A bomber to join the fleet.
M206R Mila III is the 5th and final Corkscrew 051A built for the Remedian flotilla. These ships will become fully operational during the Summer following new type proving and training and the final 3 Perimpaz 039As will finally be withdrawn.
Finally X709 Kappa is the final Alpha 121A NFS to be built. It is thought a follow-on class will be developed but may follow a different design path.
