DDS Fleet news round-up
The DDS are understood to have an option to purchase the Intruder LPD outright at the end of their 2 year lease. A DDS fleet spokesperson said they would consider this but first of all needed to get the ship into service to evaluate it. The ship will have DDS communication equipment fitted and may have a transphasic missile launcher fitted next year. Of course these would be removed if the ship was returned to the HCS!

DDS agree lease for HCS warship
No its not april the 1st but the DDS has agreed a 2 year lease for a HCS warship! In an 80 million zark deal the DDS are to have a brand new built Intruder class assault carrier for 2 years. The ship will be delivered to DDS Solaris Station in may and then will be localised by an expert DDS team. Then specialist staff from DDS Academy, assisted by HCS officers, will devise a training regime for the ship. The DDS expect to have the ship ready for service by the late summer.
The ship will be used to help the DDS develop their own equivalent ships but will also be ready for combat situations should the need arise. The ship will be allocated the fleet number 4901 and the name Intruder.

DDS negotiate leasing of HCS ship as rebellion costs bite
The DDS is understood to have agreed terms with the HCS for a 24 month leasing of an Intruder class landing ship for 80 million zarks. The DDS say the ship, as yet unnamed, will help the DDS evaluate the need for their own class of landing or amphibious warfare ships. Sources close to the HCS say the money is needed desperately.
Although the Clone economy is still doing fairly well the HCS budget has been squeezed by the costs of the Benito rebellion. Several programmes have been delayed including the HCSAF's upgrade programme for 1000 of it's F-40 fighters into the F-40S standard. Confidence in the Clone economy has been dropping though, especially with outside investors.
The Dinos, who did purchase controlling stakes in the Clone energy company Clone 2, the arms manufacturer CGMC and the telecom Clone Fone when they pumped 31 billion into the Clone economy some years ago (which staved off financial meltdown) have just completed the sale back to private Clone investors of these stakes. DDS considering landing ships
A major gap in the DDS fleet is in the area of assault transports or landing ships. Ships that can carry and deploy the New DDS Army to new missions. Currently the DDS only possess conventional transport ships and if they wish to deploy DDS land units then they need to hire passenger transports for carrying troops. Landing these troops on a planet can only be done once the planet has been secured as the DDS have no protected assault transports.
DOO Action Painting has said that the DDS are planning to built assault transports, based on the SUP design. It has been rumoured that the DDS want to purchase an Intruder assault ship off the HCS and use that as their template. Proximan politician says he will slash DDS budget
Harold Wincester, the leader of the New Proxima Party, could well be the next Proxima 7 leader. That could be bad news for the DDS as he says he will slash the money Proxima 7 pays to the DDS by 50%! As P7 is the biggest economy in the UNP and pays the most money to DDS funds this would be a serious problem for the DDS. He also said he would ban the DDS from storing biogenic weapons and work with the UNP to ban the weapon as well as halnium weapons from the DDS.

DDS criticised for having illegal weapons
An undercover reporter has exposed the existance of banned weapons in the DDS armoury. The weapons, halnium-bomb warheaded missiles, are illegal in the UNP. Halnium bombs are extremely high explosive and have been banned since 2038. The DDS say they are not breaking the ban as the ban only covers the construction and storage of the weapons on UNP worlds. Their warheads were constructed on New Arit and are stored on board a small number of cruisers in the fleet and thus have not been placed on a UNP world.
The weapons are thought to be used as formation breakers. The missiles would be fired into enemy formations, the vast explosion splitting up the formation and thus making them more vulnerable.

Faction In Focus : The Rectoids
The DDS' most dangerous foe over the last few years has been The Rectoids. A little known race who live far beyond the Central Powers' region of space. For a number of years they have been involved in trying to destabilise the peace of the Central Powers, their hand has been detected in several attempts to manouver the DDS, Dinos and HCS into a war. They have also made a number of attacks on the DDS, including the destruction of the small planet New Britannia which cost nearly 2 million human colonists lives.
The DDS thought they had defeated the Rectoids after turning the Utrek on them and the Dinos turning the ABBOs on them but the Rectoids came back and Windscorpion was sent to finally defeat them. He and Megara did this using bio-genic missiles that laid waste to the home world Recta at the cost of billions of Rectoid lives. However the Rectoids have recently begun attacks against the DDS again.
Not much is known about the Rectoids, they have a militaristic society but with a distributed leadership. Thus there is no one Rectoid who can be considered their leader. Instead they have a heirarchy of classes that range from Workers to Chief Facilitators. These Chief Facilitators make the decisions. The Rectoids are very advanced technologically, being experts in phasic cloaks. Their ships can also exceed 1000c easily, which is just as well as the distance from the DDS to the Rectoids is vast. An Isometric class frigate took 8 months to get from the DDS to Recta.

Oojok to visit DDS!
Unthinkable just a couple of years ago, Oojok and his deputy Sleeze will be making an official visit to the DDS at the start of may! Oojok will hold talks with LORD ROTARIOS (who knows everything that needs to be known). After this he will travel onto Dino-Land for talks with Ronald too.

The New DDS, which stands for cold showers and pineapples in undies, moves fast. Within an hour of the announcement the Remedian fleet has been taken over by the DDS then the entire Remedian fleet (1 Kenora, 15 Kalahati Tuul, 10 Kalahati Tuul 2 and 1 Moscow) was renumbered into the unified DDS scheme (see the DDS fleet page). DOO Action Painting also announced these ships would operate as part of the new Remedia Command of the DDS fleet.

Faction In Focus : Bolitic Confederacy
In a new series we will be taking a weekly look at some of the other planets and factions in our region of the galaxy that the Big 3 (DDS, Dinos & Clones) have to deal with.
There are over 18 worlds in the Bolitic Confederacy, with the capital being Castarian, many of the planets are pretty barren. The Bolitic are Dinos but don't tell them that as it will make them very unhappy. Several thousand years ago the Dinos first reached a technological level where they could begin space exploration. Using technology now unknown to us they sent out several colonist fleets, one of which was to Castarian. Soon after the colonist fleet left Dino-Land was wracked by a savage war between the two main nations. Within a few months Dino-Land was an irradiated wasteland. Civilisation destroyed and the Dino survivors reverted to primative pre-technoligical societies. It took the Dinos thousands of years to return to their previous level.
The Castarian colonists were free from the war but once they reached Castarian they soon floundered without assistance from the mother planet. The proto-Bolitic also regressed though not as far back as the Dinos did. In time technology was re-learnt. One thing that was never forgotten was a hatred of the home land who let them down in their time of need. Hence the modern day sheer hatred of the Dinos even though they are their ancestors.
The Bolitic developed space travel and spread out to some nearby planets to form the Bolitic Confederacy. The Bolitic are very different to the Dinos. Their language and culture is totally different, some think fairly similar to the old pre-nuclear dinocaust culture on Dino-Land. The Bolitic are a savage, brutal militaristic society. It's soldiers wear armour and prefer to fight with cold steel. The Bolitic is split into many pan-species Baronies each ruled by a Baron. Civil wars between Baronies are common as the stronger Barons jockey for position.
The strongest Baron is regarded as the leader of the Bolitic but he always has to look over his shoulders. 99% of Bolitic leaders end up assassinated. Informally he is known as the Emperor though officially he still has Baron rank. It is estimated there are over 400 Baronies but most are small groups and only around 7 or 8 are powerful enough to have any influence (and have major armies and fleets), they mostly subcontract their forces to more powerful Barons. Ranked below Barons are the Knights, they have to have the patronage of a Baron and fight for him. They can purchase a Barony or pay to become a Baron's heir though including that of an outside Barony. Non-aligned Knights are rare and tend to be fugatives.
Bolitic technology is generally good though lacking in some areas such as propulsion. Their ships tend to be large, powerful but also slow and lumbering. They have no real alliances though they have sold some ships to the Clones in the past. Their frequent civil wars usually prevent them from having the time and energy to attack other nations : except the Dinos, the only thing that can unite the tribes. Wars between the Bolitic and Dinos are fairly common though the Dinos technological advantages have now tended to reduce the Bolitic to the occaisional skirmish or sneak attack.
In military technology the Bolitic do excel, they field huge armies of slaves controlled by powerful mind-control drugs and propaganda. Battles between these armies are usually unbelievably bloody, in one case a million men died in one day with horrific radiological and chemical weapons being widely used.
The Bolitic are an awkward, violent yet proud race. They are beatable but they would fight to the last man. Their strength is weakened by their internal strife, if they could be finally united for good then they would become a serious regional power.

DDS to take over Remedian fleet
Following a number of accidents and mismanagement the DDS have decided to take over the running of the Remedian fleet again. The Remedians are part of the DDS like the Starbotians though their independance has been troublesome since the Utrek invasion that left their infrastructure in chaos.
DOC Vodaphone said that the DDS would be assisting the Remedians in improving their professionalism. The Remedian fleet has been absorbed by the DDS and given DDS fleet numbers however they will remain allocated to Remedian space.
