UNDF looking at Nectar upgrade to remove MBO content
The UNDF have begun a study into upgrading and life-extending it's fleet of twelve Nectar 52A destroyers. The MBO designed ships are highly regarded with crews but MBO content including the engine, power systems and many auxiliary circuits means that there are question marks as to the long-term viability of the fleet as spare parts run out.
The Nectar X study is looking into the feasibility of rebuilding the ships with key MBO content removed including the engine and power system.

Cicero returned to the fleet, will be the flagship again
The Rome 46A ship SS Cicero, the former flagship of the fleet, was "stolen" by the Real DDS and used as their ship. The ship has now been returned to the fleet. It is undergoing a refurbishment and update to bring it back up to current communication and security standards. The ship will be restored as the flagship of the fleet.
Until then Captain Caratore's ship SS Jurassic is continuing to serve as flagship.
Nectars and Stings cleared for UNDF operations following security and system audit
The UNDF's fleet of MBO built warships, twelve Nectar 52A destroyers and ten Sting 58A scouts have been cleared to return to UNDF operations following a full audit of the security and computer systems on the ships to make sure there were no MBO backdoors or other hidden "surprises" which the MBO could have used to comprise UNDF operations.
Space Fleet chief Parallax welcomed the clearance of the ships, due to the depleted nature of the UNDF fleet the available of the ex-MBO ships is vital, especially the Nectars which are considered very good ships especially after upgrading with UNDF technology.
The Nectars are expected to kept in service for the rest of the decade at least, although spare parts may become an issue beyond that. UNDF are considering a new build of Rome 46A to replace the Stings at some stage.
